In a world run by Toms, an isolated man named Tim risks his identity and his life by trying to infiltrate their secret society, because he feels that his name is close enough. Tim stands in line, eager to see The Toms live in concert, a stand-up comedy duo that performs exclusively to fellow Toms. When Tim presents his ID, he is rejected and chased away by menacing Toms. Dejected, he decides to transform into what he believes constitutes a real Tom, fully equipped with a designer hairstyle and wardrobe. But this transformation comes at a great cost.
