At Age 7, Sam Ramirez-Herrera fled Mexico with her family in pursuit of the American Dream. 30 years later, on the eve of Day of The Dead, she embarks on a journey to reconnect with her past and convene with her Mexican family, both living and dead. As her homecoming stirs trauma on both sides of the border, it also reveals the great cost of her decades-old crossing and upends her conception of what it means to be a DREAMER. “El Regreso” explores rebirth through the lens of one woman’s awakening.
