Simon is three days from his Bar Mitzvah and the nightmares are getting worse. Visions of dropping the Torah and disappointing his Father haunt him. As his orthodox Father pushes him toward blind faith, Simon wrestles with his Torah portion, the story of the binding of Isaac. Why would G-d ask a dad to sacrifice his son? And why would a dad agree to it? As Simon reckons with his faith and his Father, he is called in front of his entire community to read from the Torah he’s no longer sure he can trust.
