In this coming-of-age, dark comedy thriller that explores themes of isolation, miscommunication, and redemption, El Secreto follows James, a high schooler trying to make it through his Spanish class in order to graduate. His teacher, Dr. Espindola seemingly makes it impossible for him to catch a break, forcing James to get creative. As the film unfolds, we, the audience, are forced to take stock of our beliefs and ask ourselves the question, “Is there such a thing as divine justice?
