The competition is open globally and may be restricted by laws in certain places, countries, or regions of the World. Further, the competition excludes DANCES WITH FILMS (DWF:LA) staff, representatives or associated partners from entering.

Entries may be in any format/genre including narrative, documentary, music video, animation, etc. You will need to submit your content through the link posted on the home page of the DWF:LA website (https://dwfla.com) Entries must meet the requirements of the competition to be eligible including length, deadline and any other rules. Further, we advise you to consult the judging criteria listed below. Also, please note no purchase (or entry fee) is necessary to enter.

Additional Submission Requirements: By entering a video, you certify that the video is one’s original content, and the content does not infringe on any 3rd party’s rights. If 3rd parties (friends, family, strangers, or children) do appear in the video, we ask for you to receive permission to use their image. No mail-in entries will be allowed. Finally, please make sure the video is appropriate and in line with Dances With Films: LA brand—use your best judgment!

a] Videos must not exceed 120 seconds total including titles/credits.
b] There are no format rules (i.e. – videos may be narrative, documentary, animation, music videos, etc.)
c] Videos must have been produced between March 1, 2020 and the date you enter.
d] Videos must be posted on a public streaming platform (such as vimeo) with a download option for competition use.
e] Videos must not contain nudity or graphic language. Furthermore no content will be accepted that is deemed to be demeaning to any ethnic, racial or religious group or sexual orientation.
f] Videos must be produced without any violation of any and all stay-at-home or social distancing guidelines in your region.
g] You own your content. DWF:LA will have no claim to the content of entries other than the ability to stream such content in association with this competition and/or marketing purposes in perpetuity. All copyrights are the responsibility of the entrant.

Entries will be accepted through the submission portal provided on the DWF:LA website homepage through June 24, 2020 and will be reviewed by DWF:LA selection committee staff. This committee will review all entries and DWF:LA will post the top 24 entries by July 6, 2020.

Copyright License: You agree to grant DANCES WITH FILMS (DWF:LA) its licensees, and successors a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, fully paid-up, royalty free right and license, with the right to sublicense for the purpose of this competition and marketing materials. Basically, Dances With Films will receive a license to use your film for marketing/publicity purposes in perpetuity. Again, Dances With Films will act in good faith with our privacy policy regarding your personal information.

There are three steps in the winner determination:

a] The DWF:LA selection committee will choose the top 24 videos entered. While there are no format guidelines (i.e. – videos may be narrative, documentary, animation, music video, etc.), each entry will be judged using the following criteria: Entertainment Value (25%), Filmmaking Skill (25%), Overall Creativity/Originality (50%).

b] Open voting period will commence July 6 thru July 12, 2020 on the DWF:LA site. Voting details will be posted on July 6, 2020. The Top 12 videos (semi-finalists) determined by the open voting period will be announced July 6, 2020

c] Winner, as well as 3 runner ups, to be determined by one or more Industry Leaders and will be posted July 17, 2020.

DANCES WITH FILMS (DWF:LA) will post the winner on social media and will communicate directly with the winner via email using the email address provided at entry. Please ensure that “rumble at dwfla dot com” is in your address book. We promise to do our best to locate and communicate with you if you are the winner. If, for any reason, we are unable to reach you via email within 10 days of the winners announcement (we will attempt to contact you via phone should we not hear back via email), winning prize money will be forfeited.

The prize to be awarded from the competition is as set forth in the “Prize” listed above. Keep in mind the winner will be solely responsible for any and all applicable taxes for the prize.

Finally, by accepting a prize, the winner agrees to release DANCES WITH FILMS (DWF:LA), including but not limited to it’s staff, representatives or associated partners from any and all liability, loss or damage of any kind to both the prize itself and any damage arising out of or in connection with winners’ participation in this competition or with respect to the awarding, receipt, possession, use and/or misuse of any prize. ALL PRIZES ARE AWARDED “AS IS” AND WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANT ABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE), AND ALL SUCH WARRANTIES ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED.

If you refuse, these terms, you may forfeit all or any portion of the prize package at Dances With Films’ discretion and the next highest score can receive the prize instead.

Please allow fourteen (14) days for delivery of prize.

Assumption of Risk: BY PARTICIPATING, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE PARTICIPATING AT YOUR OWN RISK AND THAT NEITHER DANCES WITH FILMS NOR ANY SPONSOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PHYSICAL HARM OR DEATH THAT MAY BEFALL YOU AS A RESULT OF PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROMOTION. YOU SHOULD NOT EXPOSE YOURSELF OR OTHERS TO ANY DANGEROUS, HARMFUL OR ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR OR ACTIVITY AT ANY TIME DURING THIS PROMOTION. PARTICIPANTS AGREE TO ABIDE BY ALL APPLICABLE LAWS.

Waiver of Liability: by participating in this Promotion, you further agree to waive, release, indemnify, defend and hold harmless Dances With Films and its parent, affiliated companies and subsidiaries and their directors, officers, employees, sponsors and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies, and assigns, and any other organizations related to the Promotion, including, but not limited to, non- sponsors (together, the “Released Parties”), from and against, any claims, injuries (including death), loss, expenses or damages, and/or liabilities of any nature that in any way arise in whole or in part from the acceptance, possession, use or enjoyment of a prize or parts thereof, participation in the Promotion, or in any prize-related activity, including, without limitation, any (i) condition caused by events beyond Dances With Films’s control that may cause the Promotion to be disrupted or corrupted, (ii) injuries, losses, or damages (compensatory, direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise) of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the prize, or acceptance, possession, or use of the prize, or from participation in the Promotion, (iii) printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Promotion, (iv) electronic, network or computer failures or malfunctions, or other hardware, software or technical errors of any kind, including undeliverable messages resulting from any form of active or passive email filtering by a user’s Internet service provider, lost, late, delayed, inaccurate, incomplete, or misdirected messages, any injury or damage to any person’s computer related to, or resulting from, participation in the Promotion or for other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Promotion, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Promotion or the processing of submissions.
