After discovering a lost 8mm Kodachrome reel unseen for more than sixty years, filmmaker Dusty Dale Barker begins a personal journey into his family’s untold stories. The four minutes of archival footage capture a summer on his grandparents’ farm in the Missouri Ozarks: quiet moments of fishing, laughter, and life lived in simple joy. Intercut with VHS footage from the 1990s and present-day narration, MARIGOLD draws connections across generations and asks a quiet but urgent question: what do we lose when we forget to preserve the ordinary? A meditation on memory, wonder, and the cost of disappearing from your own story.
