Will Scheffer is a playwright, writer/producer and filmmaker. His plays have been produced and developed across the country. In NYC: Playwright’s Horizons, Naked Angels: EASTER, The Public Theatre and Ensemble Studio Theater, where he’s had four plays in The Marathon.

His first screenplay IN THE GLOAMING was produced by HBO in 1997. Will then moved to Pasadena with husband Mark V. Olsen, and they began writing and producing together. They produced the independent feature based on Scheffer’s play EASTER in 2002, and that same year they created HBO’s acclaimed drama BIG LOVE.

An attorney and member of the New York Bar, Mark has created, written, and produced several screenplays, teleplays, pilots and miniseries. For HBO, he wrote MARY CHESNUT’S CIVIL WAR, a six-part miniseries based on the private lives of confederate elite and their slaves in Civil War-era Virginia. He also wrote the screenplay for HBO Films’ CABRINI USA about the 40-year rise and fall of the Cabrini Green Housing Project in Chicago. In 2010, after being published in Best Plays of 1999, Olsen’s play “Cornelia” opened at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.

Currently, through their company ANIMA SOLA PRODUCTIONS, Will & Mark are developing film and television for HBO. They’ve recently produced their own adaptation of the British comedy GETTING ON with HBO, and have other exciting projects in the pipeline there.
